The biggest Career Orientation Program for Political Science majors is back!

NOTE: Due to the sudden suspension of classes on September 21 (Thursday), the organization decided to move the event to September 28 (Thursday)

Historically, political science has always been bound to be viewed as a discipline in preparation for law. However, venturing into the true nature and dynamism of politics has consistently proven that power demands a wider scope than that of the legal sphere. Political science is, foremost, a social science thus it is able to analyze all levels of society in a variety of lenses, but what remains exclusive to our discipline is the lens of power as a tool of scrutiny. Political science is applicable to almost, if not all, fields especially that in business, governance, diplomacy, civil-state relations and many more.

UP POLITICA is an academic organization that believes in political science as an independent discipline that is not necessarily pronged to law. In line with this vision, the organization is consistently creating initiatives in order to promote the discipline as an independent program with wider opportunities and wider applications, and by extension, more specialized niches that only political science students can fulfill.

With this, we are organizing, for its fifth year, “CROSSROADS: Reclaiming Society”, a forum to answer all your questions on what lies ahead of our discipline. We have invited speakers across various professions to re-tell their college experiences and how actually there are so many roads to finding your own special niche in reclaiming society and making the differences that do matter. Not only does it seek to dispel the myth that all political science students become lawyers but also expound upon the career paths open to them upon exiting the halls of the university. Finally, it seeks to reinforce the discipline as a source of immense influence in society provided with the proper training and tools. In order to aid society during its most vulnerable of times, it is essential to understand what we, and only we, can do.

The forum will be held on September 28, 2017 (Thursday) at Palma Hall Room 207, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there so you can start drawing your path towards what you want in society!
