Phoenix makes Manila swoon once again with “Ti Amo” tour

After three years, French rock band Phoenix returned to Manila for yet another heart-thumping and visually captivating concert at the Kia Theater last August 15.

The French quartet, consisting of Thomas Mars (on lead vocals), Deck d’Arcy (on bass), Christian Mazzalai (on guitar and keyboards), and Laurent Brancowitz (on guitar), entertained their fans with new music from their latest album, Ti Amo, which is about their “…European, Latin roots, [and] a fantasized version of Italy.” Some of the tracks they performed were J-Boy, Lovelife, Role Model, Ti Amo, Goodbye Soleil, and Fior di Latte.

Phoenix also played songs from their past five albums such as If I Ever Feel Better, Lasso, Liztomania, 1901, Girlfriend, Rome, and Armistice, much to the delight of their fans who sang with them throughout their performance that Mars cannot help but comment: “Best singing crowd! You guys know all the lyrics!”

Their energetic performance, vibrant visuals, and rapturous music definitely got the crowd singing on top of their lungs: “Love you! Ti amo! Je t’aime! ¡Te quiero!”
