Sandara Park rose to stardom after participating in the first season of Star Circle Quest, turning her into one of the country’s most influential Korean stars. Despite her successful local career, Dara decided to return to her home country of South Korea with her family in 2007, leaving Philippine show business for good.
Dara went on to become part of Korean girl group 2NE1 in 2007. She briefly returned to the Philippines in 2013 when mainstream interest in Korean pop culture gained traction.
Ever wondered why she’s never here for long despite fans clamoring for her to stay? We’ve been wondering too! Is it the weather? The traffic jam? Well now we can stop speculating.
In a recent interview, Dara shared her perfectly valid reason:
“Baka mas okay na mag-stay ako dito kahit six months. Pero hindi pwede na buong buhay ko nandito ako kasi may mga pusa na naghihintay sa akin sa [South] Korea! Back and forth, pero hindi every week. Siguro pwede na yung six months.”
[I think it might be okay for me to stay here up to six months. But I can’t stay here all my life because there are cats waiting for me at home in South Korea! Back and forth, but not every week. I think six months will do.]
Don’t worry Dara, we totally understand!
