You can never unsee what the pre-CGI “Beauty and the Beast” looks like

We all know what the monstrous beast looks like in the classic Disney tale Beauty and the Beast: with horns, sharp teeth, claws on both hands and feet, and huge body with LOTS of hair. And in the recent live-action adaptation of the film, it wasn’t easy for actor Dan Stevens to transform into his character.

Unlike others actors that had intricate makeup and costumes, Stevens only wore this gray padded suit with a cap and bouncy shoes.

And yes, this was how he looked like in the entire filming of the movie and while acting alongside Emma Watson who plays Belle!

Basically, he looks like a low-budget robot cosplay before CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) was applied in post-production to make him look like Beast.

And Emma Watson was one hell of an actor for remaining serious throughout the whole filming. You gotta admit it’s a bit hard not laugh when you have a co-actor with an odd-looking costume acting alongside you.

Other actors like Benedict Cumberbatch who voiced the dragon Smaug on “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug” also had to wear this gray CGI suit while acting and crawling like how a dragon would slither.

Thanks to technology, we can never unsee that Dan Steven was this:
