Indie film ‘Toto’ illustrates the power of a dream

Warning: May contain spoilers.

Never underestimate the power of a dream.

How far would you go to see your dreams realized? I bet you would say that you would do whatever it takes. Don’t we all? But when things get rough, when you have made the wrong decisions, and jeopardize your dream, will you still go on?

I had the opportunity to watch the indie film Toto recently by director JP Su. The film illustrated the power of a dream through the life of Toto (played by Sid Lucero).

Toto - The Movie

Toto desires to go to America but his visa keeps getting denied. In desperation, he did things that jeopardized his family, his dignity, his relationships, and his dream. He is already bankrupt and owed a lot of money he didn’t know how to pay back.

You might think that being duped once will make Toto a lot wiser. But one mistake led to even bigger mistakes, making him almost ineligible to get his US visa. He was undeniably desperate and with every wrong decision, he dug for himself a pit. And he ended up feeling hopeless in ever achieving his dream.

Who wouldn’t?

But we know that real failure happens when we begin to give up. Fortunately for Toto, though he was tricked by an American lady he met at the hotel he worked for, an American man staying there helped him. The man, David, taught Toto that the right and legal way is still the best choice he has in order to get his US visa.

He also reminded Toto that he shouldn’t give up on his dreams after all he’d been through. And that’s something we must take note as well.

No matter where you are right now, whether you are moving towards your dream or you think you are still miles away, don’t give up. Your dreams should keep you going no matter what.

Never underestimate its power to lead you and give your life purpose.

Just like Toto.

You can catch TOTO in theaters near you starting November 23, 2016. This indie film will not only teach you to pursue your dreams, but give you one rollicking time laughing.
