Truefaith launches new music video “Paano Ka Magiging Akin”

Filipino pop-rock group Truefaith has been around for quite some time already and have shown no signs of stopping anytime soon. Lead vocalist Medwin Marfil shared that the band got its name from New Order’s 1987 hit single of the same title. He originally thought the song was about faith, but later found out it was about something else (it was believed to be about drug dependency). Despite that revelation, they kept the band name.

After their 2010 full-length album, Love Parade, the band is back with a new music video for their single, Paano Ka Magiging Akin. Medwin’s brother and guitarist, Eugene, said that despite releasing the song last year with little publicity, it was favorably welcomed and was even considered by some fans as “genuinely OPM.”

The challenge, however, lies in coming up with the appropriate music video. They wanted to come up with something “…different and a little bit thought-provoking.” Thus, after a few months, the band officially released their video for Paano Ka Magiging Akin at 19 East, last August 27 which was simultaneously aired on MYX Premiere.

Directed by Genghis Jimenez, the music video also features guests: model and host Jacq Yu, actor and model JP Koch, and former Wowowee dancers, The Wow Girls. The band elaborated that the video is inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s classic horror and suspense films Eyes Wide Shut, The Shining, and A Clockwork Orange; and also by the 1973 Edward Woodward & Christopher Lee classic, The Wicker Man.

The band described it as “…sexy, classy, and crafty” and is also allegorical to an advocacy that Medwin espouses which becomes evident by the end of the video. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can view it below:

Aside from performing the single during the launch party, Truefaith also did some of their classic hits such as Huwag Na Lang Kaya, Alaala, Dahil Ikaw, Kung Okay Lang Sa ’Yo, and Perfect. They also played the first song that was aired at NU Rock 107.5, Shotgun Baby! Bang! Bang! that hyped the crowd even more. And capping off the night was their version of Apo Hiking Society’s original, Panalangin.

When asked if fans should expect an album soon, Eugene said that all they can disclose for now is that they will try something unconventional, that is, they will release one single after another, and even teased that fans can look forward to a collection of these songs in a flash drive.

So I guess we just have to wait expectantly for that and enjoy their new music video Paano Ka Magiging Akin as well as their latest single, Rain.
